Every other week two L’Arche houses meet with Bethlehem House, a sister type of residency that shares a similar ideology to L’Arche. The core members of the Bethlehem house led us in prayer before dinner. I hope I never forget how Carol, one woman who lives at Bethlehem, kissed my hand after we said the blessing.
After dinner the core members led us again as we read the liturgy of the prayer service. We were asked to reflect and think of someone who brings newness and joy into your life. Carol, who I was sitting next to during the service, picked me. And then she also picked her long time friend who was sitting at her other side. So maybe she picked me just because I was sitting next to her, but either way it made me feel good.
