Katie and I were up at 4am to finish our drive to DC and to make it to 8th Day’s service. This church meets at a local coffee shop and the congregation is very diverse with people from all different backgrounds, people who are both able bodied as well as those who are disabled. As soon as we walked through the door one of God’s best church greeters welcomed us. A man named Mark hugged us and enthusiastically said, “God loves you. Today is a blessed day, all day long.”
A member of the congregation who has a physical disability preached the word of God that morning. She told us to “Be joyful though you have considered all the facts.” She talked about how Jesus turns assumptions of the world upside down. The world is threatened by resurrection, and what was thought to be impossibility becomes the possibility that is faith. She proclaimed, “Easter is about choosing the better story!”
